Here’s my explanation of how agents get you top dollar for your home.
Today I’m sharing a short clip from an interview I did recently. We discussed a ton of topics, but in this clip, I’m explaining the advantages of hiring a real estate agent in today’s market.
A lot of people see how good the market is and they think: “Things are so hot, I’ll just sell my home myself!” This is certainly an option, but not a very good one. While anyone can put a for-sale sign in their yard, an agent brings knowledge and experience only a professional can bring to the table.
For example, the market is constantly shifting. Even in the five years I’ve been a Realtor, the market has changed a lot. It takes foresight to negotiate inspections and offers, so you want to make sure you aren’t missing anything.

You can also outsource the heavy lifting of home selling to your agent. I’ve seen plenty of people miss out on buyers simply because they were at work and couldn’t answer their door. A lot of the legal work is pretty dense as well. You can try and parse it yourself, but it’s best to have an expert go over all the details.
At the end of the day, cash is king. Studies show that when you list with a Realtor, on average you get 12% more for your home. This more than covers what you would end up paying your agent.
